Oncology

PET technology is primarily used in Oncology (the study and treatment of cancer) in treating the following types of cancer:

Cardiology

PET is also useful tool in Cardiology (the study and practice of treating the heart) for definitive cardiac assessment. PET can be used to determine the viability of cardiac tissue.

Neurology

Finally, PET is used in Neurology (The scientific study of the nervous system, the bodily system made up of the brain and spinal cord) to view brain activity to help differentiate brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s Disease from other dementias or epilepsy.
