Cardinal Health Secures Exclusive Distribution Rights For Brain PET Diagnosis Software

Orlando, FL (March 18, 2005) — Cardinal Health and Syntermed, Inc, a leading provider of software solutions for medical imaging and informatics, announced today an agreement providing Cardinal Health with exclusive distribution rights within the radiopharmaceutical industry for their NeuroQ™ product - a commercial software platform to assist in the interpretation of brain PET scans. Cardinal Health will be first to offer an education and marketing tool that will improve physician confidence in the differential diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease and raise awareness of this recently approved indication in the community of referring physicians.

NeuroQ™ is a powerful software platform consisting of quantitative tools to assist Radiologists, Nuclear Medicine Physicians and other professional interpreters of PET images with the interpretation of brain PET scans. NeuroQ™ was developed in collaboration with Daniel Silverman, MD, PhD, Head of the Neuronuclear Imaging Section of UCLA’s Medical Center. The program works by providing rapid and automated quantification of more than 240 standardized regions of interest (sROI’s) and compares the activity of brain regions in an individual scan to regional activity values derived from a large data base of normal scans, through quantitative and statistical assessments.

Michael T. Lee, CEO of Syntermed added “NeuroQ™ provides the industry’s first scalable software platform for ‘best of breed’ quantitation tools for neuronuclear imaging technology. We are proud to be working with Dr. Silverman and his colleagues at UCLA Medical Center who are recognized leaders in the field of neuronuclear imaging. This partnership with Cardinal Health is ideal for us given their commitment to the PET industry through products, services and education.”

The program reinforces Cardinal Health’s’ commitment to providing leading edge educational programs to help improve the quality of services as well as offer unique marketing tools for its customers to promote their PET services in their local communities.

“We are very proud of our commitment to education in the field of PET,” commented Sue Wallace, Executive Director of PET Marketing and Sales for Cardinal Health. “We believe that education is the key to success for our customers, and we intend to continue expanding our offering of programs to deliver education to interpreting and referring physicians as well as technologists, through both accredited and non-accredited programming. “

This new offering represents an important expansion of Cardinal Health’s PET FoundationsSM program into the specialty area of Neurology. The NeuroQ package rounds out an entire marketing and education module on the differential diagnosis of Alzheimers Disease from Frontal Temporal Disorders that was released by Cardinal Health in January. The overall goal of the PET FoundationsSM Program, is to improve the quality of PET services being provided to patients and referring offices nationwide. Helping to maintain a high quality level of services provided by PET centers is key to the Cardinal Health strategy to maximize patient access to PET as part of their disease management regimen.

Demonstrations of the NeuroQTM software will be available at the Cardinal Health booth (#101) or the Syntermed booth (# 301) at the AMI show.
